Sherwood has taken delivery of three Haas VF-2SSYT-HSE machines and one Haas VF4HSE.
These Haas high-performance “super-speed” vertical machining centres provide the high spindle speeds, fast rapids, and quick tool changes necessary for high-volume production and reduced cycle times.
Supporting our customers in construction, fenestration, rail, freight transportation and more, these machines each feature a 12,000-rpm, inline direct-drive spindle, an ultra-fast side-mount tool changer, offering high-speed rapids on all axes.
Investing since before the pandemic
“At Sherwood, we’ve been consistently overhauling ageing machinery since way before the pandemic,” said Michael Horan, Sherwood CEO. “New machines can be expensive in the short term, but are a good long-term investment because we know they can offer greater uptime, making us up to 30% faster in delivery. And, critically, they can help us achieve substantial power consumption savings which fits in with our recently published Environment and Sustainability Strategy”.
At a time when many manufacturing companies are tightening their belts, Sherwood is investing in a range of business enhancing improvements including machinery, additional shopfloor and warehousing space and green initiatives such as solar panels.
Investments that directly impact customers
“We’re confident that we’ll weather the current storms swirling around our industry and the wider economy and be in a stronger position to help customers as demand increases,” added Michael.
“We’re delighted to be supporting Sherwood and their customers at this critical stage in the company’s development” said Mark Broom, regional director Haas. “As a long term partner, it’s been incredibly satisfying to provide cutting edge machinery that helps them positively impact their customers.”
The new machines are already up and running and are having a significant impact on productivity
